New 6-Story Apartment Building Coming To Harlem's Striver's Row

HARLEM, NY — Developers filed plans with the city Department of Buildings to construct a new apartment complex near Harlem's historic Striver's Row neighborhood, according to public records.

The new development will rise 57-feet-tall on West 140th Street between Frederick Douglass and Adam Clayton Powell Jr. boulevards, according to building plans. The building will house 21 apartment units.

With 19,084 square feet zoned for residential use, the average unit in the new development will be about 908 square feet. Planned amenities include a community room, outdoor recreation space, a laundry room and bicycle storage, according to building plans.

The new development will be built on a vacant lot, meaning demolition permits likely will not be needed. The developer is listed as Michael Callaghan, who is also building a 12-story apartment complex on West 150th Street. Aufgang Architects has been hired to design the new development, accoridng to building plans.
