Person Struck By Train In Harlem, MTA Says

HARLEM, NY — A person was struck at a subway station in Harlem on Friday afternoon, shutting down service on the 2 and 3 lines in the neighborhood, according to transit officials.

The person was hit by a train at the West 125th Street and Lenox Avenue station at about 1 p.m., the MTA announced. EMS responded to the scene and transported the injured person to Harlem Hospital, an FDNY spokesman said. The spokesman could not confirm the person's condition or identity.

The MTA instituted the following service changes while emergency responders aided the injured person:

  • 2 trains ran on the 5 line between 149 St-Grand Concourse and Nevins St in both directions;
  • 3 train service was suspended between 96 St and Harlem-148 St in both directions;
  • Northbound 3 trains ran local from Chambers St to 137 St-City College via the 1 line.
