Plans Filed For New East Harlem Supermarket

The new development will replace a building with a supermarket and add offices on a second floor.

EAST HARLEM, NY — Developers have filed plans with the city Department of Buildings to construct a new two-story commercial facility in East Harlem.

The new building will be located on Second Avenue between East 101 and 102nd streets, according to building plans. The location is across the street from the George Washington Houses public housing development.

The two-story development will span 20,573 square feet of space, all of which is zoned for commercial use, according to building plans. The space will be split up between a supermarket on the first floor and office spaces on the second floor.

The site is currently occupied by a grocery store called Cherry Valley Marketplace. It's unknown whether the same business will occupy the new building. Demolition plans were filed in April to take down the existing structure.

An anonymous entity called 1968 2nd Avenue Realty LLC is listed as the new building's developer, according to plans filed with the city. Pine New York is listed as the new building's designer, according to development plans.
