Woman, 26, Found Dead In East Harlem Shelter, Police Say

A 26-year-old woman was found dead at an East Harlem shelter early Sunday, police said. The cause remains unclear.

EAST HARLEM, NY — A 26-year-old woman was found dead at an East Harlem shelter on Sunday, police said.

Authorities responded around 10:33 p.m. to a 911 call at 325 East 104th St. — the site of the East River Family Center.

Officers found the woman unconscious and unresponsive, with no obvious signs of trauma. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.

The woman's identity was being withheld pending family notification. The medical examiner will determine her cause of death and an investigation is ongoing, police said.
