Woman Stabbed In Broad Daylight Near Central Park In Harlem: Police

HARLEM, NY — A woman was stabbed while walking in Harlem late Saturday morning, just one block away from Central Park, police said.

The incident unfolded around 10:55 a.m. when police got calls about a 55-year-old woman who had been stabbed in the lower back with an unknown sharp object near the corner of Saint Nicholas Avenue and West 111th Street, according to officials.

Police believe the victim and the assailant did not know each other.

Medics rushed the injured woman in stable condition to Mount Sinai Morningside, the NYPD said.

No suspects have been named and an investigation is ongoing.

Authorities have shared surveillance footage depicting the individual they suspect to be involved. Described as a man with a dark complexion and medium build, he was last seen wearing a black hat, a light-colored shirt, blue pants and white and black sneakers.
