Incumbent Harrison Mayor Dionisio Will Be Sworn In New Year's Day
A razor-tight vote tally ultimately didn't matter after a judge ruled the leading candidate for office ineligible for office.

HARRISON, NY — After the votes were counted, incumbent Mayor Richard Dionisio trailed by a single vote, but when the unofficial results were certified weeks after Election Day, Dionisio was the apparent victor.
After a tough campaign and sometimes bitter legal battle, Dionisio will be sworn in to a new term at 1 p.m. on New Year's Day at the Alfred F. Sulla, Jr. Municipal Building.

According to the Westchester County Board of Elections unofficial final results, former Harrison Mayor Ron Belmont received 2,119 write-in votes to incumbent Harrison Mayor Dionisio's 1,987 votes. Belmont's votes are now listed as "IRREGULAR A" and the votes designated as "a write-in candidate ruled ineligible per court order." That court order which found that Belmont was prohibited from holding the office because of term limits, paved the way for Dionisio's swearing in to a new term on Monday.
The final vote tally also listed 10 votes for "IRREGULAR B." Those votes were designated as for "any other write in candidate," with "Mickey Mouse" cited as an example.
