Wegmans Ranks 3 On Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For List

HARRISON, NY — As essential workers, supermarket employees kept the wheels turning during a global pandemic when much of the rest of the workforce was staying at home to try to stay safe. It turns out some those of those local grocers working under the most challenging of circumstances were working for one of the best places to work in the country.

Great Place to Work and Fortune magazine have honored Wegmans as one of this year's 100 Best Companies to Work For.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For list. Wegmans has been on the list every year, and this year ranks number 3. The national recognition means that Wegmans, with a location in Harrison, is one of the best companies to work for in the entire country.

"Our philosophy has always been to take care of our people, so they can take care of our customers," Wegmans CEO Colleen Wegman said in a statement announcing the recognition. "It is extremely inspiring how our employees rise to every occasion to help others, beginning with each other. We believe this caring culture is what has earned us a spot on this list for the past 25 years and we could not be more grateful. We celebrate this award and honor with our entire family of 50,000."

The Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For award is based on analysis of survey responses from more than 4.5 million current U.S. employees. Employees answered 60 employee experience questions on topics, including trust, respect, fairness, and camaraderie. The ranking accounted for the experiences of employees across all demographics.

This isn't the first time Wegmans was recognized as a good employer.

The Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For list, is one of a series of rankings by Great Place to Work and Fortune based on employee feedback from Great Place to Work-Certified organizations. In 2021, Wegmans also ranked as a Best Workplace for Working Parents, Millennials, Women and was ranked number one on the list of Best Workplaces in Retail. They ranked first on PEOPLE’s list of Companies that Care.
