1,000 Islandia Residents Celebrate Village's 40th Anniversary: 'Special Day'

The theme for the 20th annual BBQ was "Red, White & Blue," as residents came to the event wearing the colors of the U.S.A.

ISLANDIA, NY — More than 1,000 residents came out to celebrate the Village of Islandia’s 40th anniversary during its 20th Annual BBQ, which took place at Memorial Recreational Field on July 19, the village announced.

The theme for the BBQ was "Red, White & Blue," as residents came to the event wearing the colors of the U.S.A. in celebration of the nation’s 249th birthday.

Village employees and volunteers served delicious food, while children enjoyed various fun activities such as hay rides, a water slide, and a petting zoo. In addition, there was the traditional blueberry pie eating contest.

Mayor Allan Dorman thanked everyone for "coming out and making it such a special day."
