15-Year-Old Bicyclist Hit by Car Critically Injured
The Long Island teen was airlifted to the hospital after the crash Saturday afternoon, police say.

ISLANDIA, NY – A 15-year-old boy was critically injured after a car collided with his bicycle on Long Island Saturday afternoon.
According to Suffolk Police, the teen was riding his bicycle north on Old Nichols near Dean Street in Islandia when he was struck by 2008 Honda Civic that was heading south at approximately 1:15 p.m.
The Central Islip boy, who police did not name, was transported via Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital where he is in critical condition. The driver of the Honda, Janette Santos, 57, of Ronkonkoma, was uninjured and remained at the scene.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. The investigation is continuing. Detectives ask anyone with information to call the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452.
