Hauppauge Student Uses Tech to Teach Abroad

Varun Mehta create videos in Hindi to teach math to Indian students.

A Hauppauge High School student is taking technology and adding his knowledge of the Hindi language to reach out and teach others.

Varun Mehta, 16, has created a series of educational math videos in the Hindi language to help teach 50 students in the village of Nizampur, according to Newsday.

The four videos are each 20 to 30 minutes long and explain the principals of Vedic mathematics, which teaches how to do mathematic problem-solving without using a calculator or pencil and paper. Mehta sends the videos via email to his students.

"In exams in India, you don't get to use a calculator," Mehta told Newsday.
