Suffolk County Lottery Winners Claim Prizes Totaling $10 Million
One Mount Sinai couple scored a $7 million prize.

Suffolk County residents Scott Guzzone, MaryAnn Lauro and Michael DeFalco have won big in the New York Lottery this week, with their combined winnings totaling $10 million.
Guzzone and Lauro, a married couple from Mount Sinai, will have to make room in their wallets for their $7 million prize after winning the New York Millions scratch ticket game.

"I had a really strong feeling about the New York Millions ticket,” Lauro said in a statement. She usually buys smaller tickets, but this time she splurged on the $25 game, asking her husband for the extra cash to cover the cost.
She just scratched the barcode at first, and when she scanned it, it told her she had won a 'large sum.' It was only after having the clerk scan it as well that she scanned scratch the rest of the ticket to see how much she had one.

Lauro and Guzzone split the winnings evenly between themselves and plan on "investing most of it for a secure future," they said in the statement. "We both need new vehicles and maybe a vacation to Florida."
Michael DeFalco of Islandia won his prize by playing the Frenzy scratch ticket, which he plays frequently. He's won $200 and $500 prizes before, but those prizes now seem minuscule when compared to his most recent $3 million win.
How does it all make him feel?
"I don’t really know," DeFalco said in the press release. "It hasn’t all hit me yet. But I do know this will give me a lot of peace of mind for the future.”
After withholdings, DeFalco can pocket $1,594,938. Lauro and Guzzone will each lay claim to $2,316.300, all told.
