The Week Ahead: Wing-Eating Contest

A look at upcoming events and activities this week in the area.

IBA Free After Hours Networking Event
The IBA is holding a free networking event Wednesday at Barrington's in Hauppauge (160 Adams Ave.)  June  19 from 6-8 p.m.  Free food.  Half-priced draft beers. Attendees will get safety tips from Ten Tigers Kung-Fu Academy.  

Farmers Market
The Hauppauge Farmers Market is held every Wednesday this summer from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Stop by Teachers Federal Credit Union (102 Motor Pkwy. and buy locally grown produce, plants and specialty items.

Grand Re-Opening of the Richard H. Handley Collection of LI Americana 
Celebrate the grand re-opening of the Richard H. Handley Collection of Long Island Americana at the Smithtown Library Wednesday at 7 p.m. The evening’s program will include an overview of the collection’s history and also an opportunity to view some of the collection’s most remarkable highlights.  Smithtown Town Historian, Brad Harris will be the featured speaker and Long Island Room librarians, Cathy Ball and Caren Zatyk will be available to answer questions about the collection.  Registration is recommended. CPR Certification Class
John Joseph Custom Pools (919 W. Jericho Tpke., Smithtown) will host an adult and child CPR certification class Monday at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome. However, age 10 and older is recommended. $5 per person. Call 631-864-7665 for more information and to register.

Wing-Eating Contest
Head down to Del Fuego North at 429 North Country Rd. in St. James Wednesday at 6 p.m. for a wing-eating contest. Cost is $10 for Adults & $5 for Kids (age 12 and under). The first place winner will receive $100. Call 631-963-6900 or visit www.delfuegorestaurant.com for more information.
