Man Dead After Falling On Tracks At Jay Street-MetroTech: NYPD

The 65-year-old man fell onto the tracks after a psychical altercation with an 18-year-old man on the R train platform of the station.

DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN, NY — A 65-year-old man died after he fell onto the tracks of the Jay Street-MetroTech station during an argument with another person on Wednesday afternoon, police said.

The victim, who's named has not been released yet, got into an argument with an 18-year-old man on the R train platform of the station sometime before 2:55 p.m., officials said. The argument eventually turned physical and the man fell onto the tracks, police said.

He was pulled from the tracks by an unknown person and taken to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, a spokesman for the NYPD said. The 18-year-old was taken into custody but no charges have been filed.

The incident caused northbound R train to skip the Jay Street-MetroTech station and southbound trains to run along the Q line instead, according to the MTA.
