Downed Power Line Suspends Service on 3 LIRR Branches
Some commuters are stranded as the LIRR attempts to get service restored during the evening rush.

UPDATE 8:35 p.m.: The LIRR has established limited shuttle train service between Babylon and Hicksville via the Central Branch. Customers can transfer at Hicksville for limited eastbound service to Huntington/Port Jefferson and Ronkonkoma. Due to the limited nature of this service, we recommend that customers traveling east of Mineola consider alternate branches including Babylon or Montauk branches.
The LIRR says it is in close communication with PSEG.
"They have informed us that they will need several hours to secure and remove the downed power lines in Hicksville," the LIRR said on its website Monday night." After that, LIRR will need to assess for track/signal damage. We continue to recommend that customers use alternate branches including the Babylon, Hempstead and Montauk branches."

@lirr_grievances current status in Jamaica. They cancelled my train On 7 and told everyone they’d be accommodated on the train on platform 5. It was packed with the conductors standing outside saying “this train isn’t going anywhere”. No other employees anywhere to be found. pic.twitter.com/7GR8fkkFOj

@LIRR I pay $300 a month to be kicked off a train at Jamaica due to some power line complications. And no train going in any direction close to where I parked my car at 7:00am. Awesome Monday.

Not only does the @LIRR suspend service and leave its passengers at a random station, but the train reverses course and leaves the young and the elderly in the cold and the rain #phenomenalservice #lirr #needstochange
