Flags Fly At Half-Staff For Retired State Police Investigator: Hochul
Long Island's Thomas Herrick died from a 9/11-related illness.
BETHPAGE, NY — Flags on state government buildings will be flown at half-staff in honor of retired New York State Police investigator Thomas Herrick, Governor Hochul announced.
Herrick, who lived with his family in Nassau County, died on April 12 from an illness stemming from his assignment in and around the World Trade Center following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
He retired in 2009 after 26 years with the state police.

“We are so grateful to Investigator Herrick for his contributions to keeping New York safe, and I send my deepest condolences to his family in their time of great sorrow," Hochul said.
Herrick, who was laid to rest on Tuesday, is survived by his wife and three children.
