Former News 12 Anchor Carol Silva Battles Cancer Again
Silva was first diagnosed with lung cancer in 2019.

HICKSVILLE, NY — Former News 12 anchor Carol Silva is battling cancer again. She faced the disease head-on for three years, but after it went into remission, her cancer returned, Newsday said.
Sliva, who turns 68 this week, confirmed to Newsday: "I have been diagnosed again with a spot in my lung lining and a spot on my rib."
The legendary anchor, and Hicksville native, retired in 2019 after a 30-year career at News 12 when she was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer.

Despite the cancer spreading to her brain, Silva was declared cancer-free by Sept. 2020, Newsday said.
Silva said she hasn't gotten to discuss treatment options with her oncologist yet.
