Halloween House Long Island Brings Family-Friendly Attraction To Hicksville
"Think of it as a haunted house, but not scary," president Michael Dessart said.

HICKSVILLE, NY — If you enjoy Halloween attractions, but not the scary part, then this one in Hicksville might be for you.
The Halloween House Long Island has been reimagined for this season at Broadway Commons, where it's called home since 2022.
"It's evolved year after year," Halloween House president Michael Dessart told Patch. "We make it bigger and bigger every year."

While there are numerous Halloween-themed venues, this one is minus a signature of the holiday.

Visitors get an immersive, walk-through experience that he calls festive.
"There are no actors [and] no jump scares," he said.
The "house" is for families and all ages, as "there's a little something for everyone," he said.
Dessart said the fun aspect separates them from other Halloween attractions, with multiple activities during the visit. For example, going from room to room, families will encounter a scavenger hunt, music and trivia.
Tour guides help set the mood along the way.
"We've added some new rooms," he said.
Those upgrades include the Halloween House take on "Jeopardy" and a Monster Mash Rave.
"There's nothing quite like what we do, in terms of the nature of having it available and appealing to all ages," Dessart, from Nassau County, said.
While visitors can go at their own pace, the average is 45 minutes to fully enjoy the attraction.
"They can navigate throughout the experience and go back to different rooms or stay in one room longer," he said.
"We don't like to overcrowd the experience," Dessart said. "We want everybody to have the same experience. So, we don't jam people into the attraction."
Since the look is refreshed, "people who've been here in years past will have a different experience and hopefully a better experience than they've had in the past," he said.
Timed tickets are available on their website. Halloween House Long Island runs from Sept. 26-Nov. 1, seven days a week.
