Nassau Restaurant Worker Stabbed To Death By Coworker: PD

Police said a worker at La Candela, a Peruvian restaurant in Hicksville, was killed during a fight.

HICKSVILLE, NY — A Hicksville restaurant worker was stabbed to death by a coworker armed with a piece of glass Thursday, police said.

David Jimenez Salazar, 22, of Farmingdale, was charged with second-degree murder and fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon after the slaying at La Candela, a Peruvian restaurant on South Broadway.

Police were called to the restaurant around 10:45 p.m. Thursday for a report of a bleeding man. Investigators determined Jimenez Salazar slashed a male coworker during a fight.

A police medic declared the worker dead at the restaurant. Police have identified the victim as Elvin Padilla, 37, of Hicksville.

Jimenez Salazar was placed in custody at the restaurant and expected to appear in Mineola court Friday.
