Hicksville School Budget Vote Tuesday: What You Need To Know

Here's everything you need to know before casting your vote.

HICKSVILLE, NY — Residents will decide on the Hicksville School District budget on Tuesday.

The final proposed 2025-2026 budget is $180,811,000, an increase of 4.38 percent from last year's budget.

It includes full use of reserve for debt service at $2.6 million and a pierce of the cap for $1.7 million.

If the pierced budget does not pass, there would be a revote next month with one option giving residents a tax levy increase of 3.35 percent.

This year's tax levy stands at an increase of 2.54 percent to $118,463,674.

In order to pierce the cap, a supermajority of 60 percent is required but, the district said, it would reduce tax impact to $138 per home.

Hicksville residents who have lived in the district for at least 30 days, who are U.S. citizens 18 years of age or older and who are currently and properly registered, may vote.

Board of Education trustees are on the ballot as well.
