Hicksville Traffic Stop Leads To Seizure Of Drugs, Weapons: Cops
The traffic stop led authorities to a business called Hemp Smarts, where narcotics, weapons and $12,000 in cash were seized, police say.

A traffic stop in Hicksville led to the arrest of a Massapequa man and the seizure of weapons, drugs and $12,000 in cash from a North Massapequa business on Tuesday, police say.
Officers pulled over Jason Depietto, 33, after he violated a traffic law while driving a 2000 Nissan on West Barclay Street around 9:30 p.m. Officers approached the vehicle, which was stopped on Route 107, and detected the odor of marijuana and saw several concentrated cannabis cartridges as well as a clear pipe containing marijuana, police say. A white bag of 92 additional cannabis cartridges were recovered during the traffic stop, police say.
Further investigation led detectives to Depietto's Chicago Avenue home and the business Hemp Smarts, located at 1097A North Broadway, where authorities say they recovered: one strip of LSD, approximately 265 grams of mushrooms, 45 grams of concentrated cannabis wax oil, approximately 140 grams of marijuana, 168 vials of THC concentrated cannabis oil, a 12 gauge shotgun, 22 gauge rifle, Rock River AR-15, 4 high capacity magazines, bullet proof vest, expandable baton, numerous THC edibles, assorted pills and approximately $12,000 in cash.

Depietto was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He will be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
