Man Pockets More Than $60K In Nassau-Based Fortune Teller Scam: Police

Hemanth Kumar Muneppa is charged with grand larceny, police said.

HICKSVILLE, NY — A woman was scammed out of more than $60,000, police said.

On Thursday, July 3, the 68-year-old female victim paid a man $20,000 for fortune telling services, police said.

On July 17, he was providing fortune teller services at Anjana Ji on South Broadway in Hicksville. The woman was instructed to a give another $42,000 for services, authorities said.

It was at that point the victim was advised she may be being scammed and called police.

After an investigation, Hemanth Kumar Muneppa, 33, of Queens, was arrested in the parking
lot without incident, police said.

Muneppa is charged with third-degree grand larceny, third-degree attempted grand larceny and two counts of fortune telling, police said.

He was scheduled for arraignment on Friday.
