Oyster Bay Cancels Programs, Events Over Coronavirus Concerns

Concerns of the spread of coronavirus has caused Town of Oyster Bay officials to cancel and pause several community events.

TOWN OF OYSTER BAY, NY — Many programs and events in the Town of Oyster Bay have been canceled by officials amid concerns over the spread of the coronavirus.

All senior citizen activities at community centers between March 14 and 22 have been paused, and future activity schedules will be evaluated on a week-by-week basis, a release from the town said.

Preschools in Syosset-Woodbury and Marjorie Post Community Parks will continue under rules.

The Polar Plunge at Tobay Beach has been canceled, with officials asking instead that participants do something creative online, using the hashtag #PlungeNation and tagging Special Olympics New York and Polar Plunge NY.

  • Ballet Long Island presents ā€œPeter and the Wolfā€ Saturday, March 14 at 2:30 PM at the Locust Valley Library
  • Rolie Polie Guacamole Sunday, March 15 at 3:00 PM at the Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library
  • Keith Leaf - The Light Show Saturday, March 28 at 2:00 PM at the Hicksville Public Library

Distinguished Artists Concert Series

  • The Golden Chords Sunday, March 15 at 2:00 PM at the Jericho Public Library
  • Lee Glantz Sunday, March 22 at 1:00 PM at the Syosset Public Library
  • The Chamlins Sunday, March 29 at 2:00 PM at the Hicksville Public Library
  • Echoes of Sinatra Saturday, April 4 at 7:30 PM at the Syosset Public Library

The Town will reschedule Children’s Shows for later in the year. Updates will be posted on the Oyster Bay website as they become available.
