Town Honors Hicksville Model Train Enthusiasts For Charity Work

HICKSVILLE, NY — The Town of Oyster Bay recently honored Joel and Barbara Berse of Trainville Hobby Depot in Hicksville for their community contributions in coordinating several model train shows every year which support worthwhile causes.

This year, the beneficiary was the Oyster Bay Railroad Museum, whose mission is to heighten awareness, understanding and appreciation of the railroad's impact on Long Island life.

"We are fortunate to have members of our community like Joel and Barbara who extend themselves as volunteers and take action that add greatly to our community," said Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino.

Due to the support and generosity of entities like Trainville Hobby Depot, the Oyster Bay Railroad Museum is able to collect, preserve and interpret the railroad heritage of Long Island for present and future generations.
