Water Main Break Causes Emergency Repairs In Nassau

HICKSVILLE, NY — For several hours on Friday morning, Hicksville was impacted by a water main break, Nassau police said.

Stewart Avenue was closed in both directions between the Wantagh Parkway and Abode Lane. The closure took place for more than four hours while workers made repairs, police said.

The Hicksville Water District said the water remains safe to drink. However, if customers find the water discolored, the utility company said to run the cold water tap closest to the water meter until it is clear, the water district said in a Facebook post.
