2 Hurt In 2-Car Centerport Crash
One driver was airlifted to a nearby hospital on Friday afternoon, fire officials say.
Two people were injured, including one who was airlifted, following a two-vehicle crash in Centerport on Friday afternoon.
According to fire officials, the crash involved a sedan and an SUV on Route 25A, east of Harbor Circle, at 1:30 p.m.
The Centerport Fire Department responded to the crash and used the heavy rescue "Jaws of Life" tool to remove the driver from the SUV. The driver was then treated by EMS crews and airlifted by Suffolk Police Medivac helicopter to be treated at Stony Brook University Hospital. The driver of the car was also taken to Stony Brook University Hospital by Northport Fire Department ambulance.

The Centerport Fire Department was on the scene with an ambulance, heavy rescue truck, paramedic responder, fire police and an engine to secure the helicopter landing area, according to PIO Steve Silverman.
Units were under the direction of Assistant Chiefs Rich Miltner and Andy Heglund and Deputy Chief Medical Dr. Jack Geffken.
