A Refuge for Historic Homes Proposed at Sunny Pond Farm

Homes would be moved to the site then rehabilitated and used as office space, according to proposal.

The owners of Sunny Pond Farm on Park Avenue in Huntington are proposing a development plan that preserves both open space and historic structures.

"The design would accommodate old structures that are being renovated to be readapted for another use," said John Breslin, of Huntington-based Breslin Appraisal Co. The historic Ketcham House and the James F. Chichester House have already been moved on to the property.

There are provisions in the design of the site for another 5,681 square feet of additional space for other buildings in the rear as it becomes necessary that they be relocated to the site.

In order to convert the historic buildings into office space, the town would have to grant a zone change for the property from R-7 Residence District and R-10 Residence District to C-1 office-residence district.

Huntington Historical Society president Gary Strong said the Society is in full support of the application as presented.

Sunny pond Farm is located at Park Avenue and North Woodhull Road.
