Driver Charged With DWAI After Fatally Striking Pedestrian: PD
The crash occurred on Jericho Turnpike on Saturday night.

A Huntington man faces driving while ability impaired charges after police say he struck and killed a pedestrian in South Huntington on Saturday night.
According to authorities, David R. Thompson, 75, was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox eastbound on Jericho Turnpike when he struck a pedestrian who was crossing Jericho Turnpike, near Oakwood Road, at 9:30 p.m.
The pedestrian, 54-year-old Huntington Station resident Anthony J. Santiago, was taken by Huntington Community First Aid Squad to Huntington Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Thompson was arrested and charged with DWAI. He is being held at the Second Precinct and he scheduled to be arraigned Sunday at First District Court in Central Islip.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.

The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to call the Major Case Unit at 631-852-6555.
