Golf Classic Raises $400K To Benefit Huntington Hospital

The proceeds will go toward the hospital's maternity unit, wound care center and concussion institute.

The 2017 Huntington Hospital golf classic in June raised nearly $400,000 to benefit various capital projects.

The proceeds will go toward the hospital’s maternity unit, wound care center and concussion institute.

“It’s inspiring to see the vast support of our community members during events such as the golf classic,” Gerard Brogan, Jr., MD, executive director of Huntington Hospital, said in a press release. “The donations that were raised will go a long way toward renovating the maternity unit and building a wound care center, which will further help Huntington Hospital maintain its regionally recognized clinical excellence.”

The golf classic took place on June 7. Golfers played at The Creek Club in Locust Valley and Glen Head Country Club. Following the games of golf, they attended a surf and turf dinner beachside at The Creek. Dinner guests also participated in a live auction that included New York Yankees memorabilia, exclusive golfing opportunities and premiere New York Giants and New York Jets tickets.

John Riconda, chief executive officer of Contemporary Computer Services Inc. and a Huntington Hospital trustee, was this year's golf classic honoree.

“It was a beautiful day and I am very grateful to all of the golfers and supporters who came out to help Huntington Hospital – my local hospital – as well as to the committee members, staff and volunteers who made this event possible,” Riconda said.
