Harborfields HS Inducts 41 Into Business Honor Society

GREENLAWN, NY — In the second year of Harborfields High School’s Business and Marketing Honor Society, 41 new members were inducted in a memorable April 11 ceremony organized by the society’s adviser, Dr. Alison Matthews, the school district announced.

This honor recognizes students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in business education at the secondary level.

Additionally, 13 students from the Business and Entrepreneurship Academy were recognized for earning New York State CTE endorsement.

After Business and Marketing Honor Society Secretary Jasmine Jimenez led the Pledge of Allegiance, Principal Marie Netto addressed the inductees.

"I’d like to extend my congratulations to the extraordinary young people sitting on stage who are being inducted into the Harborfields chapter of the Business and Marketing Honor Society," Netto said according to a news release. "Additionally, I’d like to thank our dynamic business
department, as they consistently demonstrate their professionalism and commitment to
business education, and to this chapter. Their joint efforts have helped to create a successful community of students devoted to the field of business and this honor society is incredibly fortunate to have their guidance. Finally, I'd like to express my gratitude to the Harborfields Board of Education and our central administration. Their joint belief in the importance of business education has helped to support our students and to create thriving programs and unbelievable opportunities for our students."

Matthews said preparing for business careers in high school allows students to develop leadership skills, perform service, develop character and become college and career ready.

"We are proud of these students and they definitely deserve to be recognized," Matthews said.

Business and Marketing Honor Society President Bobby Constantatos then delivered
a speech.

"I’d like to start off on what it means to be part of Business and Marketing Honor Society,"
Constantatos said. "It means you have demonstrated an outstanding achievement in business education, which is the requirements we have to get into the club. What this really means is that everyone you see on the stage before you tonight has a passion for business. They care about it deeply. I know many of them want to make it their careers and become entrepreneurs or chief officers at big firms, and I hope that what we were able to accomplish this year helps just a little bit towards that final goal. After tonight, I hope you all know that you deserve the honor you’re receiving tonight, that you put the hard work in and this is your reward."
