3 Harborfields Students Named Finalists In National Merit Scholarship Program
The students reached the final stage of competition, joining 15,000 of their peers from across the United States.

GREENLAWN, NY — Three Harborfields High School students were named finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program, the school district announced.
Seniors Francis DeGregorio, Alexander Meagher, and Andrew Walden received Certificates of Merit in recognition of their achievement.
In September, DeGregorio, Meagher, and Walden were announced as semifinalists after scoring among the top 16,000 students nationwide. Now, just five months later, they have advanced to the final stage of competition, joining 15,000 of their peers from across the country.

"This honor reflects their hard work, dedication, and commitment to academic excellence," the district stated.
Since 1955, the National Merit Scholarship Program has recognized and honored academically
talented students of the United States. This year, more than 3.5 million students from across the
country took the PSAT/National Merit Qualifying Test, but only a small amount met the Selection
Index scores.

"I join our entire Harborfields community in congratulating our National Merit Finalists," Dr. Rory Manning, superintendent of schools, said in a news release. "These students have worked extremely hard as evidenced by scoring in the top 1 percent of all students across the nation on the PSAT exam. We look forward to celebrating their continued success in the future."
Beginning next month, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation will announce approximately
7,500 scholarship winners, marking the next exciting step in this highly competitive program.
"We continue to wish Francis, Alexander, and Andrew the best of luck moving forward," the district stated.
