Huntington Police Blotter: Man Who Stole iPhone Arrested

ALSO: A man's car was stolen, and someone tried to use his credit cards; and $7K worth of items stolen from store; and more, police say.

HUNTINGTON, NY — Curious about what's going on in your neighborhood? These are recent incidents reported in the Huntington area from Dec. 9 through Dec. 15.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Dec. 11: Nicolas Cabrera, 32, of the Bronx, stole an iPhone from the front porch of a Gull Hill Drive, Northport home, police said. He was arrested and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny: value of property more than $1,000.

Incidents

  • Dec. 14: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported on Railroad Street in Huntington Station at 7:40 a.m. Someone parked a 2004 Acura TSX with the engine running, police said. When they returned, he found the car was stolen, police said. The man found the vehicle parked in Huntington Station later that day and recovered it, police said.
  • Dec. 13: Grand larceny (third-degree) and grand larceny (fourth-degree: credit card) were reported on Beverly Road in Huntington Station at 7:30 a.m. A man left his vehicle running with the keys in the car in a deli parking lot, police said. The car was stolen, police said. Someone then attempted to use his credit cards at a CVS in Shirley, police said.
  • Dec. 12: Grand larceny (second-degree) was reported on Abbott Drive in Huntington at 8:48 p.m. Someone transferred money in cryptocurrency into another wallet, thinking it was a request from the official Coinbase website, police said. When he called Coinbase, Coinbase told the man they had no knowledge of the transaction, police said.
  • Dec. 11: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported on West Jericho Turnpike in Huntington at 2:05 p.m. Two people entered a store and stole approximately $7,000 worth of items from a display shelf, police said.
