Huntington Police Blotter: Person Scammed Out Of Money After Receiving Threatening Texts

ALSO: A Huntington Station shop was burglarized when someone broke a glass front door, police say.

HUNTINGTON, NY — Curious about what's going on in your neighborhood? These are recent incidents reported in the Huntington area from Dec. 2 through Dec. 8.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Dec. 7: Grand larceny (second-degree) was reported on New York Avenue in Huntington Station at 1 p.m. A person received threatening texts from an unknown number demanding money, police said. The resident sent money to the scammer three times, police said. The fourth time the scammer demanded money, the resident reported it to the department, police said.
  • Dec. 6: Burglary (third-degree) was reported on New York Avenue in Huntington Station at 4:10 a.m. Someone entered a shopping center store, at 1570 New York Ave., Huntington Station, by breaking the glass front door and then stole items, police said.
  • Dec. 2: Making graffiti was reported on Fifth Street in Huntington Station at 9:21 p.m. Someone graffitied in a public men's room, police said.
