'Selfless Leader': Huntington Station Street To Be Renamed For Rev. Bernadette R. Watkins
Rev. Bernadette Watkins has fed and sheltered those in need while instilling "core values of faith and community."

HUNTINGTON, NY — A Huntington Station street is set to be renamed celebrating Rev. Bernadette R. Watkins, the Town of Huntington announced.
Watkins is a community and spiritual leader of Mt. Calvary Church. Councilman Dave Bennardo is hosting the ceremony, which is scheduled for 3 to 3:30 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Fairground Avenue and E. 4th Street, Huntington Station.
"Reverend Watkins has instilled core values of faith and community through her countless hours of service within the town," the town stated. "She has provided for the community by feeding and sheltering those in need and providing care, love, comfort, and guidance to people of all ages. She has also educated many in our community about African American History and has kept this alive through her dynamic collection of artifacts. Reverend Watkins is a selfless leader in both her Church and the Town of Huntington."

The members of Mt. Calvary Church, as well as residents of the Town of Huntington, requested that the roadway on which Watkins has lived for many years be renamed in honor of the life and legacy she created on this street and within this community.
