Locals Named All-State Girls Basketball

St. Anthony's and Glenn stars earn spots on All-State team.

Two girls basketball teams who made runs deep into the postseason placed star players on the All-State Basketball Team. 

The New York State Sportswriters and Coaches Organization for Girls Sports released the all-star teams Wednesday, and athletes from and earned recognition.

Glenn senior center Allison McKenna, Newsday’s Long Island player of the year, was named to the All-State Class A second team. St. Anthony’s senior Symone Kelly and junior Rebecca Musgrove, both All-Long Island picks, were selected to the All-State Class AA second team.

McKenna, who won a state volleyball title in the fall, took and a trip to the state Final Four in March. She signed with Geneseo.

The Siena-bound Kelly, an inside force, helped elbow St. Anthony’s to back-to-back and berths in the state CHSAA playoffs.

Musgrove, a versatile guard who powered the Friars, returns next fall.
