Low Cost Spay/Neuter for Pets

Town of Huntington offering special discounts to residents.

During the month of June, the Town of Huntington is presenting a special low-cost spay/neuter event for dogs within the Township.

Sponsored by Councilman Mark Cuthbertson, Huntington Township residents can sign up for low cost ($50) spay/ neuter vouchers for their dogs. Services will be provided at the North Shore Veterinary Hospital in Northport. To participate:

  • You must reside in the Town of Huntington and be able to show proof of residency.
  • Go to the Town of Huntington Animal Shelter (106 Deposit Road, East Northport) or call them at 631-754-8722 to register for the voucher.
  • Once you have a voucher, you must make an appointment directly with North Shore Veterinary Hospital in Northport.
  • Appointment must be for a date in June 2013.
The League for Animal Protection of Huntington, Inc. encourages the residents of the Town of Huntington who have not already spayed/neutered their dogs to participate.

Overpopulation due to unwanted litters means more dogs in the Town Shelter. Dogs who have been spayed/neutered are less likely to try to escape from their yards and roam.

Spay/neuter is shown to reduce health risks in dogs including mammary tumors—taking advantage of this special offer may well help your dog live a longer, healthier life and save on vet bills.
