Main Space Co-Working Opens In Huntington, Renovated From Historic Church
The space offers a fitness center and conference rooms and can be rented out to entrepreneurs

HUNTINGTON, NY — Main Space, a co-working location, is celebrating its grand opening in Huntington. The business is housed in a renovated historic church.
The space aims to redefine how entrepreneurs, remote/hybrid workers, freelancers, and small businesses in the Huntington Village-area approach their professional lives.
People can schedule a tour or apply for membership on the Main Space website. An app would allow members to reserve desks, rooms and other amenities, which include a fitness center, kitchen, lounge, conference rooms, and spaces both indoors and outdoors.

The building, at 453 W. Main Street, was previously the Church of Christian Science. For Main Space owner Mike Hartofilis, a Huntington native and family man, transforming the old building was his venture. He said he heard other parties wanted to tear it down and build townhomes. Hartofilis was able to get the proper permits to renovate the church into a professional office space.
The previous space, Hartofilis said, promoted prayer, meditation and reading.

"So, throughout the building there are little nooks for our members to find privacy and focus, as well as open spaces to generate a little buzz of energy," Hartofilis told Patch. "Aside from all of the cool architectural stuff, we have many conference rooms, a fitness center with showers, a large breezeway and outdoor patio, and three levels of space for any member to explore."

Hartofilis said the project began nearly four years ago, as attaining permits took a year, and the coronavirus pandemic was a "major setback."
"So far we've received incredible feedback, so we're feeling like it's been worth the wait," he said.
Main Space offers four different memberships with a month-to-month lease to accommodate all work styles.
