Police Log: Car Break-Ins, Man Falls Victim To Phone Scam

Here are recent incidents reported in the Huntington area, according to Suffolk County Police.

Wednesday, July 12

At 9 a.m., someone entered an unlocked 2012 Fiat and stole a wallet that contained cash and credit cards on Jones Lane in Huntington Station.

At 10 a.m., a man fell victim to a phone scam on Windham Drive in South Huntington. Police say the man received a phone call from a person who claimed to be his nephew and stated he was in need of money. The man was instructed to purchase three Best Buy gift cards and give his “nephew” the numbers. The man gave over the numbers. He later called his nephew and realized the call was a scam.

Thursday, July 13

At 12:05 a.m., someone stole a wallet with cash and credit cards from an unlocked 1999 Nissan Altima on Bayley Place in Huntington Station.
