Port Washington Crossing Guard Retires After Nearly 40 Years
Port Washington BID honors Margaret 'Margie' Constantino.
Margaret “Margie” Constantino spent most of the last four decades at the corner of Main Street and Port Washington Boulevard, safely crossing residents at one of the busiest intersections in town.
Jan. 30 was her last day at this post, marking Constantino’s retirement.
The Greater Port Washington Business Improvement District took time at its February board meeting to present Constantino with a commemoration to show its appreciation.

As members of the BID point out, Constantino has served the community in the most adverse conditions, ensuring the safety of generations of Port’s children and adults alike.
“As Margie retires, we wanted her to know that our board appreciates everything she has done to ensure that our community [and] shoppers were safe while she was manning the crosswalks at Main Street and Port Washington Boulevard,” said Paul Oleksiw, president of the Greater Port Washington Business Improvement District.
