Sons Of Sgt. Paul Tuozzolo Throw Out First Pitch At Mets Game
The boys' father, a Greenlawn resident, was shot and killed in the line of duty in November.
The children of fallen Sgt. Paul Tuozzolo, of Greenlawn, threw out the first pitch at a Mets game at Citi Field this week.
Answer the Call, a nonprofit that supports the families of New York City's first responders, hosted its 33rd Annual Mets Game & Family Night on Wednesday.


To kickstart the game, the children of three recently fallen New Yorkers tossed out the first pitch:

- Tuozzolo's sons, Austin and Joseph. Their father was killed during a Bronx shootout last November.
- Three children of FDNY Chief Michael Fahy, who was a Rockland native who was killed in the line of duty during a Bronx explosion in September 2016.
- Son of NYPD Det. Joseph Lemm, a Westchester native killed in the line of duty by a suicide bomber in Afghanistan in December 2015.
Answer The Call provides financial assistance and support to the families of NYC first responders killed in the line of duty. The charity hosted more than 600 beneficiaries at the Mets Game & Family Night. Former Mets player Rusty Staub started the fallen first responder fund in 1985.
Tuozzolo's sons also accepted a prestigious award in his honor in June. The fallen officer was the recipient of the Medal of Honor at NYPD's Medal Day 2017 for going above and beyond the line of duty.
