St. Anthony's Duo Named All-Americans

Girls lacrosse plays for Nassau-Suffolk CHSAA title Monday with pair of Under Armour All-Americans.

Now for the big finish.

The girls lacrosse team spent much of the last few seasons in the spotlight. It all comes to a climax Monday at 6 p.m. when the Friars face Sacred Heart Academy for the Nassau-Suffolk CHSAA title.

The game is at Adelphi in Garden City and culminates a season in which the program has been nationally ranked. St. Anthony’s (16-1) is fifth in the ESPN Rise national rankings.

The Friars look to win their fifth straight league crown. They , in last season’s final and also finished in the Top 5.

St. Anthony’s clearly has the talent to five-peat. Under Armour announced its All-American teams Thursday and Annie Heagerty, a senior midfield headed to Georgetown, and Darcy Messina, a senior attack who , were selected.

They’ll play in the All-American game June 30 at 5 p.m. at Towson.

But first Heagerty and Messina have another game to win.
