This Week: Golf Outing, Boat Safety

Schools around Huntington hosting events to help others.

Kiwanis Golf Fundraiser
Golfers will head out to the links Monday to raise money for the Children's Foundation. 
The 23rd annual Children’s Foundation fundraiser sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Huntington will start at 10 a.m. at the Huntington Country Club. Proceeds will be used for such projects as Kamp Kiwanis, an annual holiday shopping tour and Thanksgiving food program.

Boating Classes Begin
Boating classes start Monday, a few days ahead of the official launch of Safe Boating Week, which begins Saturday.  A course designed to meet state boating safety standards runs Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 6-9 p.m. at the Huntington Fire Department.

Police Community Meeting
Representatives of the Suffolk County Police Department's Second Precinct will meet Wednesday with the public at the South Huntington Public Library, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. To register, call the Huntington Harbor Master's Office at 631-351-3255.
 
Huntington High School's Relay for Life
Teams working to raise money to fight cancer will gather Friday at Huntington High School.  The opening ceremony for the Relay for Life is set for 7 p.m., followed by a survivors' lap at 7:30 p.m. Events conclude Saturday at 6:30 a.m.  On Tuesday from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m., Jonny D's Pizza, at 946 New York Ave., is donating a percentage of sales to the event.

Autism Speaks Run at Whitman High School
A run for autism is set for 9 a.m. Saturday at Whitman High School.  
The event includes a 5K, a family fun run and walk and a kids dash.

St. Anthony's Golden Kids Carnival
St. Anthony’s High School is sponsoring a carnival for children with special needs on Saturday.  The day will include inflatable rides, carnival games, a DJ, andother appropriate activities for our guests.  The carnival runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

First Aid Squad Open House
The Huntington Community First Aid Squad will host an open house  Sunday May 19 from 1 to 4 p.m. In addition to food, giveaways, tours and demonstrations, HCFAS volunteers will also offer blood pressure screening and teach hands only CPR.
