Voter's Guide: South Huntington School Budget, Board Election

What you need to know for election day.

Those who reside within the area of South Huntington schools will vote on the district's $170,505,675 proposed budget for the 2018-19 school year on Tuesday, May 15.

The proposal calls for a 4.74 percent increase in spending over the current year and the tax levy increase is 2.15 percent, which is within the tax levy cap.

There are four candidates running for three open seats on the South Huntington Board of Education. They are: incumbent Michele R. DeGaetano, incumbent Linda O. LaCara, incumbent Edward J. Nitkewicz and Solange Rich.

Polls will be open from 3 to 10 p.m. at Walt Whitman High School.
