Walt Whitman HS To Host 'Holiday Blessings Tour' Distribution For Needy Families
Families can sign up to receive food, diapers, wipes, feminine hygiene products, and laundry detergent. Here's how to sign up.

SOUTH HUNTINGTON, NY — Walt Whitman High School is set to host its second annual Holiday Blessings Tour on Dec. 21 to bring food and other basic necessities to families who could use a helping hand this holiday season, the school district announced.
The distribution is scheduled to be held in the North Gym from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Hundreds of people turned out for last year’s inaugural event, which was organized by the non-profit charitable organization God’s Blessings Plan, which focuses on community development. Their mission is to "show love and compassion to the most vulnerable in our local communities" and "treat people with dignity without discrimination."

Kiora Johnson, founder and executive director of God’s Blessings Plan, said the turnout at Walt Whitman High School last year was the largest of their four Long Island stops, so they’re "happy to be able to hold the event in the South Huntington community again."
Through the organization’s partnerships with Feed the Children, World Vision and corporate sponsors, volunteers will be bringing non-perishable food and personal care items — including diapers, wipes, feminine hygiene products, and laundry detergent — to supply about 700 families in our community.
