Woman Fatally Struck By SUV In Huntington
The Friday afternoon crash is under investigation.

A woman was fatally struck by a SUV while traveling on foot on a street in Huntington on Friday afternoon, police say.
According to authorities, Jacklyn Henderson, 27, of Aptos, Calif., was walking along Cove Road, west of Bayview Drive, when she was struck by a 2005 Mazda traveling eastbound at 4:25 p.m.
Henderson, who grew up in the area and graduated from Oyster Bay High School, was transported to Huntington Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the SUV, a 23-year-old Northport man, remained at the scene and was not injured. The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
Police are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.

Henderson was a cross country and track star at Oyster Bay High before she ran on those same teams at Hunter College in New York City, according to a profile published on the college's website.
