LI Teen Charged With DWI After Hitting Pedestrians, Killing 1
It happened Saturday afternoon, police say.
ISLIP, NY — A teenage driver was drunk when he plowed into two pedestrians, killing one and seriously injuring another Christmas Day, police said.
An 18-year-old from Bay Shore was driving a 2004 Honda Pilot east in front of 2455 Union Boulevard when the SUV left the roadway and struck two pedestrians walking in front of an apartment building across the street from Islip High School at 2:44 p.m.
The Honda also hit a parked 2001 Toyota Camry, an electronic pedestrian crossing sign and a tree.

An adult male pedestrian, whose identification is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was pronounced dead at the scene. An adult female who was walking with the man at the time of the crash and has not been identified by police, was transported via ambulance to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore with serious injuries.
The driver of the Honda, who police did not name, was taken to South Shore University Hospital in for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. He was charged with DWI will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip at a later date.
