Police ID 2 Men Killed In Wrong-Way Crash With Oil Tanker Truck

Two men were pronounced dead at the scene early Saturday, police say,

UPDATE 12:45 p.m.: The driver of the Honda who was killed has been identified as 27-year-old Erick Olivares, of Central Islip. The passenger killed was 27-year-old Kevin Santamaria.

ISLIP, NY — Two men were killed when a car collided with an oil tanker truck on Long Island early Saturday, police said.

According to Suffolk police, a 2020 Honda Accord was going south on Route 111 in Islip when it veered into the northbound land and struck a northbound oil truck at the intersection of Ironwood Street at about 3:35 a.m.

The driver of the Honda and a passenger, both adult males, were pronounced dead at the scene. The victims have not yet been identified by police.

The driver of the oil tanker truck, 43-year-old Turk Laurinavicius, of West Babylon, was not injured. Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
