Cape Air's Islip To Boston Flights: Everything You Need To Know

Cape Air celebrated its inaugural flight from Long Island MacArthur Airport to Boston. Here's everything you need to know about the route.

ISLIP, NY — The community gathered on Thursday morning to celebrate Cape Air's inaugural flight from Long Island MacArthur Airport to Boston, welcoming the commuter airline as the sixth to fly out of the airport.

Officials were joined by the public at Central Terminal Gate B15 for various festivities, including a water cannon salute, giveaways, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, photo opportunities and more.

"This new Cape Air service offers Long Islanders even more freedom and independence to travel between Boston and ISP for business and leisure flights. On behalf of the Islip Town Board, we welcome this growing airline to Long Island MacArthur Airport," Town of Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter said in a statement. "We also look forward to warmly welcoming visitors from Boston doing business and exploring our beautiful island home."

Cape Air will continue to use gate B15 in the central terminal for its flights between ISP and Boston Logan International four times daily, with fares as low as $249 one way.

Cape Air will fly the Tecnam P2012 Traveller on the route, a twin-engine aircraft "perfect for connecting these less than 90-minute hops to Boston," officials said in a statement. The Traveller features amenities like USB ports, cup holders, and a "very comfortable" 32-inch seat pitch at the top of the 28-32 inch range offered in economy cabins by US airlines, officials said.

Cape Air partner airlines are also providing connecting opportunities for passengers on Cape Air ISP-BOS flights. For example, Cape Air customers can book itineraries through Boston on American and United Airlines to domestic destinations like Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston and Chicago, and international routes including Dublin, London, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Montego Bay, Jamaica and Punta Cana and the Dominican Republic, officials said.

"Cape Air is proud to continue its mission of providing communities with convenient, reliable, and stress-free air travel. Long Island MacArthur Airport is the closest airport to so many Long Island attractions and features easy access to rail service," said Aaron Blinka, Cape Air’s Vice President of Planning. "We look forward to sharing our excellent customer experience and convenient flight schedules with travelers from the nearby Hamptons and beyond who are heading to New England, the Cape and Islands or enjoying day trips to Boston. We are especially happy to provide fast and affordable service to those traveling domestically or internationally with easy connections to our partner airlines at Boston."

The Hyannis, MA-based airline has been one of the largest commuter airlines in the United States, serving 34 cities in the US and the Caribbean since 1989. It has grown from three flights a day between Provincetown and Boston in 1989 to a fleet of 98 aircraft, offering more than 300 flights a day, and carrying around 400,000 passengers annually.

Cape Air's presence at MacArthur follows several other new and recent flight additions out of the airport on both Breeze and JetBlue.

In October 2024, Breeze began flying round-trip between Fort Myers and MacArthur.

Also in October, JetBlue launched daily flights between Islip and Orlando, and flights between Islip and Fort Lauderdale and Islip and Palm Beach, both four times a week.

In November, Breeze started flying directly from Islip to Sarasota, FL.

In early 2025, New York State committed to invest a "transformational" $150 million to connect the Long Island Rail Road’s Ronkonkoma Station with the proposed $40 million North Terminal at MacArthur Airport, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced.

Anyone interested in attending the Cape Air celebration may RSVP to Eileen Frappied at efrappied@islipny.gov with name, DOB and gender by June 30 for the issuance of gate passes. A REAL ID or valid passport is required.
