Flood Watch, High Surf Warning, Issued On LI: National Weather Service
The advisories were issued as thunderstorms and strong winds are expected on Wednesday night.

LONG ISLAND, NY — A high surf advisory and another flood watch advisory has been issued for Long Island, as showers and thunderstorms are expected Wednesday night, the National Weather Service said.
The storms could produce gusty and winds and heavy rain, with winds up to 9 mph.
The flood watch is in effect until 2 a.m. on Thursday for the entire tri-state area, the National Weather Service said.

Areas receiving multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms with heavy rain have a chance for flash flooding in low-lying, poor drainage and urban areas, the service said.
A high surf advisory and a rip current statement is issued from Wednesday until 8p.m. on Friday, as large breaking waves of 5 to 7 feet, steadily building to 10 to 15 feet in the surf zone, are expected.

Robert Moses State Park told Patch that as of 11:20, there is a red-flag advisory on all beaches, and swimming is currently prohibited.
Swimming at Jones Beach is currently open.
"Swimming is still authorized with no restrictions at Jones Beach," said George Gorman, regional director, Long Island region, NYS parks, recreation and historical preservation. "Little rough surf and minor flooding as of now."
