Islip Animal Shelter Launches 2023 Betty White Challenge

The actress and animal advocate would be 101 years old on Tuesday.

TOWN OF ISLIP, NY — A local animal shelter is turning a successful fundraiser into an annual tradition.

The Town of Islip Animal Shelter and Adopt-A-Pet-Center will once again host its Betty White Challenge, and will take place from Tuesday until Jan. 31.

The shelter will accept donations of $5 and items on its Amazon Wish list.

Betty White, both an actress and animal activist, died on December 31, 2021, six days after suffering a stroke, officials said.

Animal shelters across Long Island and throughout the country raised thousands of dollars in this celebratory campaign, in honor what would have been White's 100th birthday.

On Tuesday, she would have turned 101 years old.

Last year, the shelter received $4,760 in monetary donations, as well as a variety of toys, collars, harnesses, treats, and dry food.
