LI Community Raises $10K For Man Struck In Islip Hit-And-Run

The 30-year-old was struck while riding his bike Saturday, police say.

ISLIP, NY — A Long Island community has raised more than $10,000 to support a man who was struck in a hit-and-run crash Saturday.

As Aaron Kudla, of Islip, 30, rode his bicycle eastbound on Union Boulevard around 9:25 a.m., police said a Chrysler Concorde struck him near the intersection of Carleton Avenue. The driver then left the scene, according to police.

Kudla was taken to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore, police said. The driver of the Chrysler was located a short time later.

A GoFundMe titled "Support For Aaron's Road to Recovery" raised more than $10,000 for Kudla and his family as of Monday afternoon.

Fundraiser organizers said Kudla remained hospitalized with severe injuries, but was in stable condition. His road to recovery "will be a long one", orgnaizers said.
